Dental Procedures

At Contemporary Family Dentistry we are focused on providing complete family dentistry with emphasis on prevention, restoration and early caries detection. We enjoy speaking one-on-one with our patients and educating them on the best techniques to use in order to achieve and maintain excellent oral health outside of our office.

Procedures we offer include, but are not limited to:

Routine Dental Cleaning

We recommend dental cleanings at least every six months. During the cleaning, our team will remove plaque and calculus from your teeth leaving you with a bright, polished smile. Our team also takes the time to educate you on how to maintain your smile and your oral health between visits.

Sealants

Brushing and flossing are the best ways to help prevent cavities, but it’s not always easy to clean every nook and cranny of your teeth – especially those back teeth you use to chew (called molars). Molars are rough, uneven and a favorite place for leftover food and cavity-causing bacteria to hide. Another safety net to help keep those teeth clean is a sealant. It's a thin, protective coating that adheres to the chewing surface of your teeth. It's no substitute for brushing and flossing but can keep cavities from forming and may even stop early stages of decay from becoming a full-blown cavity. Sealants have been shown to reduce the risk of decay by nearly 80 percent in molars. This is especially important when it comes to your child's dental health. According to the CDC, "school-age children without sealants have almost three times more cavities than children with sealants."

Porcelain Dental Crowns

If you have cracked, broken or decayed teeth, a dental crown can give you a brand new smile! Dental crowns look and act just like natural teeth. The dental crown will be fit onto your damaged tooth and protect what is left of your natural tooth. We would be happy to have a consultation with you to see if dental crowns could work for you.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Our office no longer uses silver fillings, we have replaced that technology with tooth-colored fillings – making your smile look natural! If you are unhappy with your old silver fillings, come to us to have your dark fillings replaced with a more natural look!

Tooth Whitening

In one visit with Dr. Urillo for tooth whitening, you will start to see a whiter, brighter smile! With our whitening services the effects of drinking coffee, red wine, tea, or smoking, will reveal a beautiful, white smile. Our process is quick and will help make you look years younger.

Dental Implants

If you are missing teeth, dental implants may be the perfect solution for you. They are natural-looking and are permanently anchored into your jawbone. It is important to replace missing teeth because if spaces exist, your teeth can shift and cause a myriad of dental problems, along with difficulty chewing and biting food. When your implant is placed, your jaw bonds and attaches to the implant. Crowns, bridges, and dentures are then attached to the implant to restore you to full function. To see if you are a candidate for an implant, call us for a consultation.

Bridges

The loss of a tooth can create greater problems for your dental health if not corrected. The teeth adjacent to the missing tooth (or teeth) can begin to move and result in pain and discomfort. With bridges, we can close any gaps in your mouth. The bridge will look and act just like your natural teeth and is permanently cemented to help maintain the position of the rest of your teeth.

Dentures/Partial Dentures

As people get older, their teeth start becoming damaged in a way that cannot be fixed with a simple repair. Dentures are needed so that a patient can maintain the ability to speak and eat normally and retain their normal appearance. Full dentures are needed when all the teeth in a mouth need to be replaced, and they are generally removable. We can educate you about the proper way to clean your restorations, whether they are partial or full.

Partial dentures are only used to replace a few teeth instead of all of them. Partials can be permanent, or they can be removable and taken out whenever you want.
